You will learn basic body movements, deep breathing exercises, and hand gestures from classical Indian dance as a way to improve flexibility and stamina. This movement will be slow and is designed for those who can stand as well as those who wish to remain seated. Along the way you will be introduced to some beautiful, peaceful, melodies from South India.
Instructor, Asha Premachandra is Artistic Director of Dances of India in St. Louis, one of the oldest classical Indian dance companies in the US. It is now in its 47th season and is recipient of a 2023 National Endowment for the Arts Award.
